Employment

TCS's hiring season for faculty and academic staff is approximately February to July. Other non-classroom positions may be open throughout the year.

Our current needs are:

  • Kinder, 2nd grade, teacher's aide, and campus coordinator for the Heights campus 
  • Teachers of Latin, Logic, Rhetoric for Upper School
  • Math and Science for Upper School


Primer and Grammar Classes meet at Bethel Church or at our new Heights campus on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:10am - 2:50pm (electives stay until 3:50pm). Logic and Rhetoric Classes meet at Houston's First Baptist Church from 7:50 - 2:30 (electives stay until 3:25pm).

RHETORIC SCHOOL TEACHER

(Positions available for Grade 9-11)

Summary

This position has responsibility for two or three subject areas with approximately 15 Rhetoric School students per class. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided. This position reports to the Rhetoric School Academic Director.


**We are especially looking for qualified teachers of Latin, Math/Science and Rhetoric.

Position type

Part-time (12 instructional hours per week, plus additional preparation time as needed). Some training and in-service days are also required. If a Rhetoric School Teacher also teaches an elective course, this would add two additional instructional hours per week.

Salary   

$15,000 over 10 months | $17,100 if teaching an elective (projected salary)

Since this is a part-time position, benefits such as health insurance or a retirement savings plan are not provided by the school.

Start date

Classes begin August 21, 2017. Teacher Training for incoming teachers begin on July 31, 2017.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's Statement of Faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the Classical Model of education

Additional desirable qualifications

Teaching experience at a Classical school; Teaching certification; Advanced degree; Knowledge of Latin



LOGIC SCHOOL TEACHER 

(Positions available for Grades 5th - 8th)

Summary

This position has responsibility for 3-6 subject areas with approximately 15 Logic School students per class. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided. This position reports to the Logic School Academic Director.


** We are especially looking for qualified teachers of Latin, Math/Science, and Logic.

Position type

Part-time (12 instructional hours per week, plus additional preparation time as needed). Some training and in-service days are also required. If a Logic School Teacher also teaches an elective course, this would add two additional instructional hours per week.

Salary*

PRIMER AND GRAMMAR SCHOOL TEACHER (Heights and Bethel campuses)

(Multiple teaching positions available for Grades Pre-K through 4th Grade)

Summary

This position has responsibility for one classroom of approximately 15 Grammar School students. The Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), for creating lesson plans and assignments, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Curriculum and materials will be provided. This position reports to the Grammar School Academic Director.

Position type

Part-time (10 instructional hours per week, plus additional preparation time as needed). Some training and in-service days are also required. If a Grammar School Teacher also teaches an elective course, this would add two additional instructional hours per week.

Salary   

$15,000 over 10 months | $ 17,100 if teaching an elective (projected salary)

TEACHER'S AIDE

Summary

This position provides classroom support to one or more Primer School Teachers. The Teacher's Aide is responsible for assisting Primer School Teachers with classroom instruction, Morning Assembly, lunch period, recess, and other duties as assigned by the Campus Coordinator. This position reports to the Campus Coordinator.

Position type

Part-time. On-campus days are Monday and Wednesday, aides are on duty from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.

Salary

$9,000 over 10 months (projected salary)

CHOIR TEACHER
  Summary  This position provides music education and choral training to students PK–Rhetoric School. Previous experience is a plus. This position reports to the Head of School.
  Position type  Part-time. On-campus days are Monday and Wednesday, on duty from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.

PERMANENT SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Summary

This position provides classroom support to our teaching faculty. Similar to a Teacher's Aide, the Permanent Sub is responsible for assisting teachers with classroom instruction, Morning Assembly, recess, and other duties as assigned by the Campus Coordinator but the Permanent Sub will be called upon to substitute teach full or part class days. This position reports to the Campus Coordinator.

Part-time. On-campus days are Monday and Wednesday, on duty from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.

Salary

$9,000 over 10 months (projected salary)
