Rhetoric

Disciplined by years of homeschooling and trained by the routines of recitation, narration, and logical argument in Grammar and Logic School, our 9th-12th graders operate much like students in a collegiate honors program. On home days, Rhetoric students read classic texts, complete practice for Math and Science, prepare speeches and essays, and fight through Latin readings. Then, on campus days, they are ready for discussion and argument as the primary means of approaching the great works of Homer, Plato, Augustine, Dante, Milton, Kierkegaard, and Steinbeck (to name a few highlights). In Math and Science, students learn via Socratic-style lectures and work through problems with teachers. Seniors mark their readiness for graduation when they present their Senior Thesis a few weeks before Commencement.
